Safeguarding Support for Wind Turbine Developers – January 2011

Following CAA’s decision not to process pre-planning enquiries for wind turbine developments, wind energy developers in the UK will need to employ alternative methods to identify aviation constraints.  Airside OPS Limited can assist developers in understanding these issues.  Our database contains information on over 700 individual aviation sites operating across the UK, ranging in size from large international airports to small private airstrips, including licensed civil airports; RAF and MOD aerodromes; airfields used for general aviation, glider or micro-light activity; heliports or helipads; grass strips and parachute sites.

Our ‘aviation impact query’ is intended to provide a quick and cost effective method of identifying which aviation interests are operating in the vicinity of a development proposal (usually 30km) and what issues will need to be considered in more detail.  Failure to consider potential aviation impacts at an early stage in the development process can lead to significant delays and costs down the line.
